About the Founder

Explore Emma’s Passion for Improving Health Care Education

I qualified as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) in 2014, and since then, I have had the privilege of working in a variety of high-pressure healthcare settings. My career journey began in two major trauma centres, where I gained invaluable experience in trauma care, emergency response, and critical care environments. These roles not only honed my clinical skills but also gave me a deep understanding of the fast-paced and dynamic nature of emergency healthcare.

I took a career break when I delivered my own children.

Following this, I transitioned into a busy obstetric hospital, where I was involved in supporting childbirth, assisting with high-risk deliveries, and ensuring the safety and well-being of both mothers and babies. The experience further expanded my expertise in handling acute situations, from obstetric emergencies to postnatal care.

In the next phase of my career, I shifted my focus towards teaching resuscitation within mental health settings, recognizing the unique challenges that arise when managing both physical and mental health crises. This opportunity allowed me to apply my clinical knowledge to improve emergency care and training within mental health environments, equipping professionals with the skills and confidence to respond effectively in life-threatening situations.

Today, I am a university educator, where I teach across a broad spectrum of healthcare disciplines. I have the privilege of educating future healthcare professionals, including mental health nurses, midwives, paramedics, and medical students. My role not only involves teaching vital clinical skills but also promoting a holistic approach to care that integrates both physical and mental health considerations. My passion lies in equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide high-quality, compassionate care in any clinical setting.

As an educator, I continue to draw from my diverse clinical background to inspire and mentor students, ensuring they are well-prepared to face the challenges of modern healthcare and contribute to improving patient outcomes. Through my teaching, I aim to foster an environment of continuous learning and collaboration, ensuring the next generation of healthcare providers is equipped to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care.

Our Philosophy

"Antenatal education should equip parents with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to make informed decisions about pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care. By fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment, we can empower families to approach parenthood with clarity and reassurance. Comprehensive education should not only cover medical aspects but also emotional well-being, partner involvement, and preparation for postpartum recovery."

Patient and Family-Centered Care

Family-centred care takes a broader approach by recognizing the importance of the family unit in the prenatal and postnatal journey. It emphasizes the involvement of partners, siblings, and extended family, fostering a supportive environment that strengthens relationships and enhances overall well-being. This approach encourages shared learning, collaborative decision-making, and holistic support for both the expectant mother and her loved ones.

Integrating both principles into antenatal education creates a comprehensive, inclusive, and nurturing experience, ensuring that all aspects of parental and family well-being are addressed.

Quality and Safety

Quality and safety in antenatal education are essential for ensuring that expectant parents receive reliable, evidence-based, and supportive guidance throughout pregnancy. These principles focus on delivering accurate information, minimizing risks, and fostering a safe learning environment for all participants.
